A 73.6V Power Source Built Around LiFePO4 Cells

Off-road electric motorcycles need steady current on long climbs and a case that slips into a tight frame. The TENZ ENERGY 73.6V 45Ah LiFePO4 battery pack stores 3,312Wh of nominal energy in a housing of 250 × 210 × 325mm (±2mm), and it weighs 27.6kg (±0.5kg).

Inside, 23 cells are wired in series and three of those strings run side by side. The pack can supply 80A continuously, takes a 10A standard charge, and offers RS485, CAN and Bluetooth options for data exchange.

Your vehicle may call for another voltage, another Ah rating or a different case shape. As a lithium battery pack manufacturer, we build OEM and ODM versions from your drawings.

Typical Fit

This 73.6V motorcycle battery is designed for off-road electric motorcycles. It also suits light electric vehicle projects that run on a 73.6V platform and can accommodate a pack size of 250 × 210 × 325mm.

How the Numbers Add Up

Every headline figure follows from the cell layout. This is the arithmetic, so your engineers can verify it:

  • Nominal voltage: 23 cells × 3.2V per cell = 73.6V.
  • Charge ceiling: 23 × 3.65V per cell ≈ 84V at the top of the charge.
  • Cut-off: 23 × 2.5V per cell = 57.5V at the bottom of the discharge.
  • Capacity: 3 strings × 15Ah each = 45Ah, which means 69 cells in total when each position holds one cell.
  • Energy: 73.6V × 45Ah = 3,312Wh.
  • Power: 80A × 73.6V ≈ 5.9kW at nominal voltage, and the 45A standard current gives about 3.3kW.
  • Rates: 45A equals 1C and 80A is roughly 1.8C. Charging at 10A is about 0.22C, and 15A is about 0.33C.

These are calculated values, not test results. Real power and charging time shift with temperature, charger and pack condition.

Matching Your Controller and Charger

A battery works well only when the parts around it agree with it. Before you order, run through this short list:

  • Voltage window. The controller must tolerate 84V, because that is where the pack rests after a full charge. A rating that stops at 73.6V is not enough.
  • Current limit. Keep the controller's continuous battery current at or below 80A. This pack has no published peak figure, so ask us if your setup pulls short bursts above that.
  • Charger. Pick a LiFePO4 charger set to 84V maximum with output no higher than 15A.
  • Label trap. Some controllers sold under a "72V" label are built for an 84V full-charge ceiling. Read the maker's data sheet instead of trusting the label.
  • Data link. Tell us whether your dash or controller needs RS485, CAN or Bluetooth.

Datasheet Terms in Plain Words

Nominal and minimum capacity. 45Ah is the typical figure. 44Ah is the lowest value given in the specification, so plan runtime around it when margins are tight.

Standard and maximum current. The standard figures (45A discharge, 10A charge) describe everyday working levels. The maximum continuous figures (80A, 15A) are the ceilings for sustained use.

Cut-off voltage. 57.5V is the point where discharge should stop.

Working window. The span from 57.5V to 84V that the pack travels through between empty and full.

Tolerance. The ±2mm and ±0.5kg values mean individual packs may differ slightly from the stated size and mass, so leave a little clearance.

FAQ

DSC04545

Q1: What does 23S3P mean?

Twenty-three cells are connected in series to build voltage, and three such strings sit in parallel to build capacity. With one cell per position, that makes 69 cells.

Q2: How long does a full charge take?

On paper, about 4.5 hours at the 10A standard current and about 3 hours at the 15A maximum, before the slower finishing stage. Charger quality and pack condition change the real figure.

Q3: Can the pack be drained below 57.5V?

No. 57.5V is the discharge cut-off. Set the controller's low-voltage limit at or above that level.
